Address:

1200 Washington Ave S, Minneapolis, MN

Overview:

In September 2010, Sundial Solar installed 57 solar photovoltaic (PV) modules on the roof of the Minnesota Super Computer building and tied the output directly to the offices of US Senator Amy Klobuchar. This installation is one of the first to use the Minnesota-made tenKsolar PV System. Minnesota Super Computer took advantage of Xcel Energy’s Solar*Rewards rebate for this solor project. The 10 kW DC grid-tied array is expected to reduce Senator Kobuchar’s office energy load by about 14,000 kWh annually. tenKsolar, a PV System manufacturer based in Bloomington, MN, has created an innovative design that brings higher energy production, reliability and safety to commercial solar electric systems. Minnesota Super Computer is a progressive IT and office complex located next to 35W near downtown Minneapolis. Sundial Solar is a leading Twin Cities solar developer offering solar solutions to residential, commercial and off-grid customers.

Benefits:

  • Energy Savings: The 10 kW array will provide about 14,000 kWh of energy annually.
  • Carbon Savings: Every year this system will save over 2 tons of coal from being burned and prevent 10 tons of CO2 from entering the atmosphere.
