Address: 2211 Riverside Ave S, Minneapolis, MN 55454

Overview:

Through its commitment to building a sustainable urban environment, Augsburg Colllege and its ‘Green by 2019′ taskforce created its Climate Action Plan. The plan includes a student-led movement to switch to a renewable energy source for all main campus buildings. For 2010, Augsburg was the second largest Windsource® customer, purchasing 12.7 million kilowatt-hours. Since joining Windsource in 2008, Augsburg has purchased 27.6 million kilowatt-hours of wind energy.

Benefits:

Augsburg’s purchase of Windsource is equivalent to reducing carbon dioxide emissions by 24,289 metric tons, which is equivalent to the annual CO2 emissions of the electric use of 2,948 homes, the annual greenhouse gas emissions of 4,644 passenger vehicles, and the lifetime emissions of 1 million propane cylinders used for home barbecues.
