Helping communities reduce their carbon footprint by encouraging the efficient and affordable use of natural gas is extremely important to CenterPoint Energy; and the reason for its involvement in the Energy Innovation Corridor. Natural gas is an abundant, cost-effective environmentally friendly fuel source that can provide a bridge until alternative renewable fuels are technically and economically feasible.

To encourage customers to use natural gas as wisely as possible, CenterPoint Energy’s Conservation Improvement Program provides rebates to install or upgrade high efficiency equipment such as: high efficiency furnaces, boilers and water heaters. Since the program began in 1992, CenterPoint Energy customers have conserved approximately 10.7 billion cubic feet of energy, which is enough energy to supply 119,000 residential households for one year.

CenterPoint Energy also strives to be a good neighbor – for more than 130 years, CenterPoint Energy has been the largest natural gas provider in Minnesota with the most comprehensive service and volunteer programs serving 790,000 customers. For more information, visit CenterPoint Energy’s website.
