Mayor Chris Coleman – Mayor, Saint Paul

Chris Coleman

Mayor Chris Coleman took office in 2006 as the 45th mayor of Saint Paul. A lifelong resident, Mayor Coleman is proud of his hometown and passionate about making Saint Paul the Most Livable City in America.

Under Mayor Coleman, the City has become a national leader on environmental sustainability through its Sustainable Saint Paul initiative. The City has opened the first LEED®-certified police station in Minnesota and is in the process of building a planned LEED-certified fire station and headquarters. It also has welcomed the most environmentally sustainable Cub Foods in the nation and the first living green roof in the city on a mixed-use development, both in low-income neighborhoods.

Mayor Coleman has invested in sustainability by hiring the City’s first Sustainability Coordinator as well as the first Energy Coordinator and Water Resource Coordinator. He has committed the city to reducing CO2 emissions by 1 million tons yearly and to investing $1 million into an Energy Conservation Investment Fund to retrofit and build city-owned buildings with energy efficient systems.

With Mayor Coleman’s leadership, Saint Paul is creating a better business climate to grow green manufacturing and building a transportation and energy infrastructure that will improve the lives of residents while protecting our environment.
